DESCRIPTION:A new documentary deploring Waverly’s crucial role in the Underground Railroad and a celebration of the bravery of unsung abolitionists running on the Scranton ABC-TV app\, WNEP+. \n\nThe documentary highlights the intriguing history of the little Pennsylvania community of Waverly\, and the fearless abolitionists who bravely hid escaped slaves on the path to freedom\, as well as the challenges they faced from those who were not sympathetic to the abolitionist movement. Some African Americans who ultimately settled in Waverly were inspired in person by Frederick Douglass\, and played a pivotal role in the Civil War\, fighting for Union forces. \n\n\nThe documentary will be airing for the first time on Friday\, January 2nd\, at 8 p.m. on WNEP+. Following the Friday\, January 2nd premiere\, it will air on WNEP+ every night at 8 p.m. thereafter for a week\, ending on Friday\, January 9th\, enabling more flexibility to watch. \n\n
