SUMMARY:Wrightsville: Historic Mifflin Farm Tour
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Riverfest Celebrations Susquehanna National Heritage Area is offering tours of the historic Mifflin House & Farm in Wrightsville\, PA. They are offering three tours of the  site on the 27th. \nThe House and farm are in the process of being developed into the Susquehanna Discovery Center & Heritage Park (SDC). This new\, world-class destination will introduce visitors and locals to the nationally important stories and experiences of America’s 55th National Heritage Area. \n\nEnduring stories of courage\, conscience\, collaboration\, and conflict live on this land and within the walls of the property’s historic structures. In the 1800s\, freedom seekers escaping the horrors of chattel slavery found refuge in the home of Jonathan and Susanna Wright Mifflin before crossing the Susquehanna River. On June 28th\, 1863\, the farm was central to the Civil War fighting in Wrightsville when Confederate General John B. Gordon ordered artillery to the front yard of the home. This small battle set the stage for the Battle of Gettysburg three days later. \n\n\nIn spring 2025\, the Mifflin House & Farm received national recognition when it was added to the National Park Service’s Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. \nHistoric Mifflin Farm Tours\n10:30 AM\, 12:30 PM\, 2:30 PM \nFor more information:   \nPete Miele\, Senior Project Leader\npmiele@susqnha.org\n717-252-0229 x107  \n\n
