On April 18, as part of Franklin County’s  celebration of America’s 250th, the county’s Visitors Bureau is sponsoring several events involving over 70 groups, highlighted by a parade. And. in conjunction with the parade, the  Bureau will also publish a commemorative booklet featuring stories from Franklin County’s history, from colonial-era settlements through contemporary developments like the heyday of Letterkenny Army Depot.

“We have great stories from the settlement of colonial Pennsylvania all the way through the French and Indian War, Revolutionary War, then the Underground Railroad and the Civil War,” Pollard said. “There are just so many stories we can tell.”

The America250 parade will have the same route as Chambersburg’s Christmas parade: After coordinating on Philadelphia Avenue, the parade moves south on North/South Main streets and through Memorial Square, turns left on East Washington Street, turns left on South Second Street and disbands at Grant Street.
