The new Underground Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is formally launching its fundraising efforts for its exciting facility in Columbia with a gala fundraising dinner on Saturday September 12th at the Lancaster Marriott hotel in downtown Lancaster. Entitled “Quest for Freedom” the event will include nationally known guest speakers, a cocktail hour (5:30-6:30PM), an auction, and the announcement of the winners of the state-wide essay contest for school students. Michael Fuller, WGAL News 8 anchor, will be the master of ceremonies.
The mission of the museum is to tell the story of the thousands of courageous freedom seekers who came to Pennsylvania and the nearly 2000 men and women of conscience here who aided them on their journey. It will be a state-of-the-art facility and extend its scope across the state from Philadelphia to Harrisburg to Pittsburgh to Erie, with a special emphasis on the unique history of Columbia. Part if the museum’s core commitment is to advance and strengthen the work of Underground Railroad programs throughout the state.
Soon on this website will appear information about tickets and sponsorships.
