Randy Harris and Leroy Hopkins will discuss the history of the Underground Railroad in Pennsylvania and the ways its history intersects with the Commonwealth’s massive 19th century investment in a multi-modal transportation system, the ambitious project comprising roads, canals, railroads and inclined planes undertaken by the Pennsylvania legislature to link Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
